Thinking about a ski vacation to Lake Placid? Well, Whiteface Mountain Ski Center is actually located 10 miles down the road in the town of Wilmington. So if you want to ski Lake Placid, you will have to ski Wilmington.
Known as Lake Placid's Little Next Door Neighbor, Wilmington is a wonderful community located just minutes away from bustling Olympic village. It's the perfect choice for comfortable and affordable accommodations, direct access to many of the Adirondacks' recreational activities and attractions, and a location famous for its peaceful, quiet and pristine environment. We have lots to do here. Some of the things we don't have include traffic lights, parking meters and crowds.
Seconds from every place in town is the Whiteface Mountain Ski Area, the West Branch of the Ausable River, High Falls Gorge, Whiteface Mountain's Scenic Highway or Gondola Ride, and world famous Santa's Workshop, one of America's oldest theme parks and a true national treasure! All are located just a scenic, 15-minute drive from all the busy goings-on in nearby Lake Placid.
If you like to fish, swim, canoe, hike, bike, golf, jog, ski, camp, play, climb, gaze, dine, laugh or just chill out a bit, you'll love staying in the Wilmington area!
