Drive to the summit of New York's 5th highest peak (elevation 4,867 feet), where an elevator can allow even those with mobility challenges to enjoy the 100 mile panoramic view. It's an eight mile climb that ascends to such alpine heights that there is a discernible difference in the trees and vegetation. At the top, visit the castle. It was built from the granite excavated during the highway construction. The upper level has windows for the view, and the lower level has amenities like a snack and gift shop. There's also a hiking path to the very top in addition to the elevator. The path offers great views and fascinating dwarf flora that only grows in alpine conditions.

Santa's Workshop at the North Pole opened in 1949 and was one of the first theme parks in the United States. It features the world's first petting zoo, including, of course, reindeer.
Created by famous film animator and toy designer Arto Monaco, who was involved in almost every theme park in the Adirondacks, Santa’s Workshop is considered by many to be his greatest achievement. Visit with Santa, have your picture taken with him, enjoy the kiddie rides, shows and shops. The park is open every day in the summer, Fall weekends through mid-October and several weekends prior to Christmas.
